Doing What We Love on the Upper East Side

I have always loved being around plant life and watching them grow, flower and even produce fruit and seeds.  I used to travel a lot before the pandemic and had little time for my plants, but they seemed to thrive nevertheless.  I  do have great eastern light at home, and the soil in my community garden plot has been enriched by homemade compost over the years.  In my plot, I grow mostly leafy vegetables and herbs that NYC squirrels don't like!

Born and raised in NYC, I have always been surrounded by trees sticking out of concrete, small patches of grass here and there, and very rarely, community gardens.  As I got older, I started being drawn to plants more and more.  About 3 years ago, I started collecting and taking care of my own plants.  Watching over these other living things made me pay more attention to myself.  It made me realize plants are an extension of ourselves and our needs.
